Welcome to NORTHĒRA GLOBAL, an independent online education and academic support school based in Sapporo, Japan.

Established in October 2026, NORTHĒRA GLOBAL will begin offering classes in January 2027. We are qualified teachers with extensive experience in international education and in supporting IBDP students. Our aim is to provide high-quality, personalised academic support to students studying the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP).

Our initial focus is IB Diploma English B, with support available for both Standard Level (SL) and Higher Level (HL) students. Our courses are designed to complement the learning students receive at their own schools, helping them develop their English, strengthen their understanding of course requirements, prepare for assessment and examinations, and become more confident and independent learners.

Classes are taught live online, supported by additional learning materials, activities, assignments and teacher feedback through our online learning platform.

Although we are based in Sapporo, Japan, NORTHĒRA GLOBAL is an online school and we welcome students from any country. As our live classes operate from Japan, students and families should consider time-zone differences when selecting classes.

Independent IBDP Support

NORTHĒRA GLOBAL is an independent education provider and is not an IB World School or affiliated with, authorised by, or endorsed by the International Baccalaureate Organization.

Our role is to provide supplementary academic support. Students remain enrolled in and responsible to their own IB World School for their official IB courses, assessments and Diploma Programme requirements.

Courses and fees.

Our classes are taught by experienced, qualified teachers and are designed to complement the learning and support students receive at their own IB schools.

We believe students learn best in small classes where they have regular opportunities to participate, ask questions and receive individual feedback. For this reason, our regular group classes have a maximum of five students. If more than five students enrol at the same level or time, we will create an additional class rather than increase the class size. For example, six students would normally be divided into two classes of three.

English B Group Programme

Our English B programme provides regular, structured support for SL and HL students throughout the Diploma Programme.

The monthly fee includes four live 75-minute online classes, access to NORTHĒRA GLOBAL's Moodle learning platform, course materials, practice activities, assignments and general teacher feedback. Classes focus on developing the language and skills students need for English B, including reading, listening, writing, speaking, text types, examination strategies and assessment preparation.

Individual Oral Support

Students preparing for their English B Individual Oral can book individual 30-minute support sessions. These sessions provide an opportunity to practise speaking in an individual setting and receive focused feedback on areas such as fluency, pronunciation, organisation, development of ideas, interaction and discussion skills. Students may book a single session for ¥4,000 or a three-session preparation package for ¥10,000.

EE, TOK & CAS Support

NORTHĒRA GLOBAL also provides supplementary support for the Diploma Programme Core.

EE support can include guidance with research questions, planning, research skills, essay organisation, academic language and referencing. TOK support focuses on developing students' understanding of TOK concepts, arguments, perspectives, the exhibition and the TOK essay. CAS sessions can help students review their progress, experiences, reflections, evidence, learning outcomes and CAS project.

All support is provided in accordance with the principles of academic integrity. NORTHĒRA GLOBAL does not complete assessed work for students or replace the official supervision and guidance provided by a student's IB World School.

Free 30-Minute Consultation

We offer a free 30-minute online consultation for new students and their parents. The consultation gives us an opportunity to learn about the student's current situation, subjects, level, goals and areas where additional support may be helpful. We can explain how our classes and Moodle learning environment work, answer questions and recommend the most appropriate support.

There is no obligation to enrol following the consultation.

No Enrolment Fee

NORTHĒRA GLOBAL does not charge an enrolment or registration fee. We want families to pay for the educational support they receive rather than an additional fee simply to join our programme. There is also no long-term contract for our monthly English B programme. Students may join according to availability and discontinue their monthly enrolment when they no longer require regular support.
